What Industries Use Industrial Robotic Arms?

There are about 3 million industrial robots in use today, and recent surveys have shown that 88% of companies plan to deploy robotic solutions in the near future. So, if you aren’t taking advantage of industrial robotic arms in your field, you might be falling behind the competition. Most people are surprised to learn how widespread the use of robotics has become. Any industry can benefit from the implementation of Devonics’ robotic arms. Some of the industries we regularly work with include:

  • Defense

  • Medical

  • Machining

  • Aerospace

  • Automotive

  • Food and agriculture

  • Retail product manufacturing

  • Tech and consumer electronics

  • Chemistry and pharmaceutical

  • Universities and scientific research

  • Warehouse, shipping, and packaging

What Can a Robotic Arm Do?

If you’re new to the world of robotic solutions, you might be wondering what they are capable of doing. With the right programming and end effectors, it seems like our robotic arms can do just about anything. We offer a wide range of robotic arms with varying degrees of articulation and weight capacity. So, we are sure to have a combination of arms and accessories that can achieve your team’s end goals. Some of the most common uses of our arms include:

  • Assembly

  • Machine tending

  • Material handling

  • Painting and polishing

  • Drilling, cutting, and welding

  • Picking, packing, and palletizing

  • Gluing and adhesive application

  • Cleaning, vacuuming, and disinfecting

  • Injection molding, sanding, and die casting

  • Much more!

Things to Consider When Choosing a Robotic Arm

When you decide to work with Devonics, we’ll guide you through the entire process, from selecting the right robot arm to programming it. However, as you start to look at the various arms that we carry, you’ll notice that there are certain aspects of each arm, like degrees of freedom and repeatability. If you haven’t worked with robotic solutions before, these might be new terms for you. Here is a brief explanation of the things you should consider when choosing a product from one of our robotic arm manufacturers:

  • Degrees of Freedom (DoF): This is a way of measuring how freely the arm can move in three-dimensional space. Six degrees of freedom arms can perform most standard tasks that a human arm could perform, but seven degrees of freedom arms are better for maneuvering around obstructions in their environment.

  • Maximum Payload: The payload measures how much weight an arm can lift and how much force it can apply to a given surface. You should pay close attention to this factor if you need a robotic arm that will lift heavy items.

  • Maximum Reach: Just like it sounds, the reach measures how far an arm can extend from the center of the robot to its farthest point. Will your robotic arm need to reach things far away from it, or will it mostly operate in its immediate vicinity?

  • Repeatability: Repeatability is a term that measures how precise a robotic arm will be during each repetition of a task. For very specific applications, like building electronics, you will want it to have a lower repeatability measurement because that means higher precision.

  • Accessories: The accessories that you attach to your arm will dictate what it can do, from gripping to sanding.

Our Robotic Arms Are Easier to Use Than You Might Think

We take pride in our ability to provide programable robotic arms to anyone, regardless of their experience with technology or robotics software. We work with many small- and medium-sized businesses, such as start-ups and growing enterprises. We also work with universities and bigger companies like Amazon and Apple. No matter who you are or what your level of experience is, our team has a workable solution for you. We provide off-the-shelf solutions for standardized tasks, but we also work closely with clients to help them develop custom solutions for unique problems, like cutting pieces of metal underwater or replanting lettuce. Don’t let the complexity of automated solutions intimidate you or stop your team from progressing. Devonics will guide you through every step of the process.
